I, for one, have been watching the updates through their Snapchat story, and I’m not the only one. Over the course of an hour, there have been over 1,000 tweets sent from the UK alone about this embrace of ‘new technology’. This led to #Burberry being one of the trending topics in the UK with a reach of 16.9 million accounts at the time of writing.
But what is the benefit of Burberry using Snapchat as part of their showcase this year? I mean, it’s not like people don’t know who they are so they don’t exactly need to raise the profile of their brand. It could just be a matter of fashion wanderlust, envy and chatter but Fashion Bloggers are absolutely loving it. Dominating the Twittersphere and for some reason, people still underestimate the power of the blogger.
People, especially Millenials, draw inspiration from online influencers more so than traditional media. We have a generation more attune to fashion who do not trust mainstream media or magazines. They get their news online through social media platforms and are heavily influenced by blogs and vlogs. They tweet and people talk. Conversations about the new ranges and styles will be errupting online right now in voices that have more authority to a younger generation than the typical fashion magazines.
It’s already a given that this is one of the most talked about moments for today’s London Fashion Week line up and with more people yet to tune in to the story, who knows how far the conversation will go.
