iOS 9 is Apple’s Most Productive Update Yet

With every new iPhone model, comes a new iOS. And with every new iOS update, comes awesome new features, some controversy and an ongoing conversation online. With over 478,377 tweets and counting, it’s safe to say everybody has something to say about Apple’s biggest software update to date. Bugs aside, this is not only Apple’s biggest update, it’s also their most productive one too.

In case you missed them, here’s some of the best new features iOS 9 has to offer…

Exit and Switch Apps Quicker
Have you ever forgotten to return to an app and finish what you’re doing simply because you got interrupted by a message? Those days are over with the new improved navigation in iOS9. Instead of returning to your home screen or using the app switcher, the new update allows you to go to an app right away with a back button which appears in the top left of your screen.

Search within the Settings app
Hunting for a certain app to change a particular setting can be a tedious task, especially if your app count is nearing 100. Thanks to iOS 9’s new search box, you can simply enter a search term (i.e. Ringtones) and you’ll be navigated right to where you need to go.

Detailed Battery App Usage
Gone are the days where you’re left guessing which apps are draining your battery life the most. You can now get battery usage percentages for apps on your device. What’s even better is the fact that this has been added to the Today view on your lock screen as well – you can simply check your battery hogs via a widget if you don’t want to check through to Settings.

Low Power Mode
Eliminated apps but still want to save battery? By using Low Power Mode when you’re low on juice and unable to charge, you can get up to an additional three hours use from your iPhone.

New Video Settings
If you’re a budding filmmaker or a video enthusiast, this update is for you. Previously, you only had the option to toffle on 60 fps when recording video, but now you can choose between 5 options, 3 for standard video recording and 2 for slo-mo. No 1080i option though!

Better Search Page
Swiping to the left on your home screen will now bring up a new “Proactive” search screen, which is filled with Siri suggestions for contacts, apps, nearby place, news, and more!

Annotate attachments directly in Mail
When you receive a picture or PDF through email, you can now annotate the attachment directly in the app till your heart’s content. You can draw on pages, add magnification bubbles, text, and your signature. All you have to do is hit “Done” to have it automatically inserted as an attachment in a reply message.

Androids can have fun too
Alongside the new iOS 9 update, Apple have also launched a brand new app. Although Apple’s intentions seem cheeky as they are keen on luring people off Android, it’s pretty impressive too. The ‘Move to iOS’ app collects all of the data on an Android phone so that it can replicate as much of it as it can onto a brand new iPhone making the switch stress-free. Not only does the app gather up contacts, message history, camera photos, it will also transfer your web bookmarks, calendars, mail accounts as well as DRM-free media. If this wasn’t cheeky enough already, the app also suggests the best way users can throw their Android phone away, even providing an option to “recycle this Android phone for free at any Apple Store”, eek!
